Seedance Claude Skill: From Prompt to Rendered Video in One Chat

Most Seedance skills for Claude stop at the prompt, and you still copy it somewhere else to render. This free, MIT-licensed skill plans the shots and writes the prompts; with the AiuniVid MCP server connected, Claude also quotes the credit cost, waits for your yes, renders 480p drafts, turns the shots you approve into 1080p finals and starts each shot from the last frame of the one before. In other words, a small Seedance agent that runs inside the chat.

Skill and MCP: what each part does

A skill is a set of instructions Claude loads when the task calls for it: it knows how to plan shots and write a good Seedance prompt, but it cannot render anything. The MCP server is the part that acts on your AiuniVid account: it quotes, generates and checks jobs. Each works alone; together they cover the whole job.

What the skill does alone, and with the AiuniVid MCP server connected

Keeps characters consistent (reference roles, character sheets)YesYes

Install the skill

Everything is in one MIT-licensed GitHub repository, AiuniVid/seedance-video-skill: the skill itself (a SKILL.md file and a page of prompt templates) and a Claude Code plugin that installs the skill together with the AiuniVid MCP server.

Claude Code: plugin (skill + MCP server)

Terminal
claude plugin marketplace add AiuniVid/seedance-video-skill
claude plugin install seedance-video@aiunivid

Then run /mcp, choose aiunivid and sign in once in your browser; there is no API key to copy. Claude loads the skill whenever you ask for a Seedance video, and you can also call it as /seedance-video:seedance-video.

Claude Code: skill only

Terminal
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/AiuniVid/seedance-video-skill
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills
cp -r seedance-video-skill/skills/seedance-video ~/.claude/skills/

That installs it for all your projects. To share it with a team, copy the folder to .claude/skills/seedance-video/ inside the repository instead, then connect the MCP server as shown below.

Claude apps

On paid plans, download seedance-video.zip from the latest release and upload it as a custom skill in Settings. Claude then loads it whenever you ask for a Seedance video or a Seedance prompt. To render, also add the MCP server as a custom connector.

Other agents

Agents that read the Agent Skills format can load the skills/seedance-video/ folder. The rendering side works in any MCP client, including ChatGPT, Codex and Gemini CLI.

Connect rendering: the AiuniVid MCP server

If you installed the plugin, this is already done. Otherwise add https://aiunivid.com/api/mcp as a remote MCP server and sign in once; there is no API key to copy. In Claude Code it is one command. Setup for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and Gemini CLI is in the docs, and the Seedance MCP server guide explains the tools and prices.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user aiunivid https://aiunivid.com/api/mcp

Example: a three-shot story, quoted before it renders

You describe the episode; the skill turns it into a shot plan, the MCP server prices it, and nothing is rendered until you agree.

Example conversation
You: Make a 3-shot vertical story: a courier delivers a parcel to the wrong door, the neighbour opens it, it is a birthday cake. Stylized 3D. Quote it first.

Claude: Plan, 5 seconds per shot:
  1. The courier knocks, holding the box (slow push-in).
  2. The neighbour opens the door, puzzled (over the shoulder).
  3. She lifts the lid: a birthday cake (top-down).
Quote on Seedance 2.5, 480p drafts: shot 1 is 83 credits.
Shots 2 and 3 start from the last frame of the shot before, so I can quote them once that frame exists;
at the same settings they come to 83 each, 249 in total.
1080p finals of the drafts you keep, 455 credits each.
Or all 3 shots on Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p: about 87 credits. Which one?

You: Drafts on 2.5.

Claude (create_video, get_video, and quote_video before each next shot): Drafts ready, links 1–3.
Shots 2 and 3 were each quoted at 83 credits, then started from the last frame of the shot before.
Turn all 3 into 1080p finals for 1365 credits?

Each shot is its own clip. The skill hands you the links in order, plus an ffmpeg command to join them; the server does not stitch clips yet.

Seedance agent: the same loop as one slash command

Plan, quote, render, check, continue: that loop is what people mean by a Seedance agent. The AiuniVid MCP server also ships it as three prompts, which clients that support MCP prompts show as ready-made commands. In Claude Code, type / and pick story_episode or the others from the list; with the server added as aiunivid, /mcp__aiunivid__story_episode runs it directly. They work without the skill installed.

  • story_episode: plans a multi-shot story, quotes every shot and renders after your yes.
  • product_ad: turns a product photo into a 2–4 shot ad that keeps the product unchanged.
  • seedance_prompt: writes one prompt with settings, without rendering. More templates are in the Seedance prompt guide.

What it costs

The skill is free. Rendering uses AiuniVid credits (1 credit = $0.01), pay as you go with no subscription. A 5-second Seedance 2.5 draft is 83 credits and its 1080p final 455 (see draft mode); a 5-second Seedance 2.0 Mini clip at 480p is 29. Claude shows the exact quote before every job, and credits for a failed job are released automatically.

Good to know

  • Clips are not stitched on the server yet. You get one file per shot plus an ffmpeg command, or you can join them in any editor.
  • Real faces are refused. For a realistic recurring person, use a verified portrait from list_characters or create the character with generate_image first, and attach it to every shot. A last frame that shows a realistic face is checked like an upload, so those shots are not chained by last frame.
  • Download links expire. Save the files you want to keep.
  • Claude asks before it spends. The skill and the server’s own instructions tell the assistant to quote and wait for your yes; read the quote before you agree.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Seedance Claude skill free?

Yes. The skill is MIT-licensed and free to use, copy and change. Only rendering costs money: AiuniVid credits, quoted before each job.

Can the skill generate the video by itself?

No. A skill is instructions, not a tool. On its own it writes prompts and settings; connect the AiuniVid MCP server (the Claude Code plugin does it for you) and Claude can also quote and render them.

Will Claude spend my credits without asking?

It is told not to. The skill and the MCP server both tell the assistant to call quote_video first, show you the cost and wait for your yes before creating a job. Credits for a failed job are released automatically.

Does it work with ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor?

The rendering side does: the AiuniVid MCP server works in ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and Gemini CLI as well as Claude. The skill file uses the Agent Skills format, so it loads in Claude and in other agents that read SKILL.md files.

Which Seedance models does it use?

Whatever your account offers: Seedance 2.5, 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini. The skill asks the server for the allowed durations and resolutions instead of assuming, prefers 2.5 drafts for shots that need 1080p, and suggests 2.0 Mini when you want the cheapest drafts.
